Portland Japanese Garden | 2019

Out of all Portland attractions, the Japanese Garden is by far my favorite. The 12-acre garden is locate in the West Hills neighborhood — just west of Downtown Portland. The space is composed of eight garden spaces that’s well shaded if you are someone who is sensitive to the sun. At $17 per person, I think the price is pretty reasonable. We were there in July and the Japanese Iris were in bloom.

Upon arrival, you may find parking to be a challenging. In fact – it’s pretty limited. We have to circle the lot a few times to find a spot. Once you enter, you’ll have to hike up a hill to the garden. To be honest – I was slightly out of breath so be mindful if you are traveling with someone who can’t walk hills. But all is forgotten once you enter the garden and witness the meticulous work of master gardeners. The place is a truly a piece of art that was inspiring, yet grounding at the same time.

We later found out the International Rose Test Garden was on the other side of the tennis courts. We would have checked it out if we about it.
